Lots of visitors in town

I have had a busy morning so far with visitors to Mission Beach wanting to know what to do today as there is a bit of wet weather around. I have sent people to the Tully Sugar Mill for a tour, a drive into the Tablelands to check out the waterfalls and fig trees and off to Mena Creek to visit Paronella Park. All great options I think.

A good time was had by all

Well it looks like the Mission Beach State School should be very pleased with the Banana Festival. When I arrived yesterday afternoon there were lots of people enjoying the stalls, the climbing wall and jumping castles as well as just lounging around in the sun. The food and drink vendors looked to be doing a roaring trade, and all that means great things for the School. Oh and of course I always love the fireworks too. So well done to all those that put in the hard yards to make it happen!

We followed it up with a lovely lunch at the Mena Creek pub.....a good day was had by all!

I think I am game enough to tackle the 'mighty' Tully River now!! Its world renown and only a short distance from Mission Beach. You too can spend a day half day on the Barron River or a full day on the Tully River. Come into the

Its a bright sunny day today

If your lucky enough to be in Mission Beach today, then you know what a bright sunny day it is. I wish I wasn't working so I could go out and enjoy it. A walk on the beach looking out at Dunk Island would be a great way to spend the afternoon I think.

Eating out!

There are so many restaurant, cafe and bar options in Mission Beach that sometimes its hard to choose where to eat. Last night I dined at Jetty's Cafe & Bar with friends, and all three of us enjoyed our meals. It is great to be spoilt for choice I think, so if your a visitor or a local to Mission Beach and don't want to cook then you don't have too!

It happened again to two girls today, all of their gear was left on the bus, not just their backpacks but their bags with passport, wallets etc. Not a fun thing to happen while on holidays.

School Camp =)

Tully once again proved why it's been named the wettest town in Australia. It's a pitty the rains had to fall whilst I was on school camp at Murray Falls ( approx. 1hr from Mission Beach) . Our camp ground was almost evacuated because of rising rivers and we were all cold and wet for 4 days. By far the highlight of the camp was attempting to float home-made rafts (with 20 kids on each) down the swollen Murray River. Most of us were very unsuccessful as parts of our rafts floated away before we could actually get on them. Apart from the rain, the camp was a great success and I would recommend Murray Falls to anybody looking for a nice place for a swim, picnic or camping spot.
